GolfBoarding at Tetherow
Powder at Bachelor
Seems like both my master and mistress have been riding a fair amount of powder at Mt. Bachelor of late.
Also seems like all this time in the “blower pow” has made them more than a little wacky!
A Crazy New Product . . . “GolfBoarding”
For the last week, all my master can talk about is this crazy new product called “GolfBoarding.”
It was recently named best new product at the 2014 PGA Show in Anaheim.
He says that he’s excited about it because of his snowboarding roots (I think it’s more a matter of taking his mind off his crappy golf game).
“GolfBoarding” at Tetherow
Tetherow (“Not Your Daddy’s Golf Club”) has a bold new plan to lease 20 “GolfBoards” for the upcoming season. One can envision cruising between shots, GolfBoarding on the undulating terrain of the David McLay Kidd 18 hole track. Truly “surfing the earth.”
The boards are 38 cm. long and 9cm. wide. They’ll top out at 11 miles per hour . . . about the same as a traditional cart. Famed surfer/waterman, Laird Hamilton is a consultant for the GolfBoarding company.
“Golf is an Old Man’s Game”
Some advocates of GolfBoarding claim that golf ” . . . is an old man’s game; kids would really like to come out and play golf if they got to ride around on . . . an electric skateboard.”
Not Everyone is Convinced
But not everyone is as keen as my master:
“GolfBoarding . . . A lawyer’s dream and an insurance company’s nightmare”
“GolfBoarding . . . Now you just need to ditch the golf clubs . . . halfway there”
“If you weren’t fat and lazy before, you will be now. What a stupid product!”
Orders for 2000 Units
“GolfBoards” are made entirely in the states–at a factory in New Jersey–and will retail at a hefty $3500 each.
The manufacturers claim to have initial orders for 2000 units.
Waiting Until Spring
First “GolfBoarding” orders will ship in April . . . while you’re waiting for spring, you might want to check out the equally innovative (and weird) Divinick club . . .
Maybe that’s a topic worthy of its own post!
Also, a great time to check out the wonderful real estate offerings at Tetherow.
