Bend Oregon home sales . . . six month review!
Sales in Bend Oregon
It’s been a rather topsy turvy ride for the first six months of 2009 in Bend Oregon real estate. We now have a chance to sit back, cold micro brew in hand, to try and digest the data. As the post on this site earlier in the week stated, sales of single family homes in Bend on less than an acre were up last month (131) . . . in fact, that’s a jump of over 90% since January’s frigid 68 sales.
Optimists would state that the June figure for houses in Bend represents the largest number in almost two years (perhaps a hint of recovery?).
Foreclosure Fever
The pessimists among us would point to the other side of the coin . . . foreclosures in Bend Oregon.
The number of notices of default (usually signifying the start of the foreclosure process) totaled 350 for the month of June (the highest month in history)
The total of almost 1800 for the six month period was approximately the cumulative total for all of 2008. This is an indication that there will be more bank-owned properties hitting the market, and a continuing decline in home prices in Bend.
